Quinn Announces Release of Tax Amnesty Guidelines
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks) today announced that guidelines outlining an upcoming tax amnesty program have been released by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

The amnesty program was introduced by Quinn earlier this year as House Bill 1888 and was included in the 2016-17 budget package signed into law over the summer.

“Tax amnesty is not a forgiveness of debt but a reduction in fines to encourage the payment of back taxes,” said Quinn. “Many of the tax dollars would otherwise go uncollected, but as it stands, the amnesty plan is forecasted to raise more than $100 million in new revenue – an important component in addressing the state’s structural deficit.”

The amnesty program period begins April 21, 2017, and ends on June 19. All taxes owed to the Commonwealth administered by the Department of Revenue are eligible. Taxes, interest and penalties collected under the International Fuel Tax Agreement owed to other states or provinces are not eligible.

The amnesty program applies where a known or unknown delinquency existed as of December 31, 2015. Individuals who took advantage of a similar amnesty program offered in 2010 are not eligible to participate.
